18 Nov The Value of YOU Versus a $20 Bill
Nobody wants to embarrass themselves, or fail, or look ridiculous. Yet we’re so much harder on ourselves when we do these things than on others.
Here’s a great little story that might help you see your value in a different way.
Pretend that I’m standing in front of you holding up a $20 bill and I ask you, “Would you like this $20 bill?” I might give it to you, but first I’m going to do a few things to it.
What if I crumpled it up into a little ball, would you still want it? I’m sure you would.
Well, what if I dropped it on the ground and stomped it into the floor. Would you still want this $20 bill if it was crumpled up and dirty? I’m sure you would.
So here’s the simple, and yet valuable lesson – no matter what I could possibly do to the money, you would still want it because nothing I could do to it would change its value!! It would still be worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But remember that no matter what happens or what will happen, you never lose your value. Whether you’re up or knocked down, looking good or having a bad day, just like the $20 bill, NOTHING changes your value! So as you head into a new school year, keep your head held high and remember your value and never let anything that people say to you, or that happens to you change your value! You’re special – Don’t EVER forget it.”
