3 Ways to Beat the Heat

3 Ways to Beat the Heat

Summer Heat Beat Softball Drink Water Wear Sunscreen Eat Hydrated

Don’t let the heat beat you or your team.

Make sure you know 3 things that will help you stay strong this summer and beat the heat.

Unlike basketball or volleyball, we play softball outside. And outside in the summer can get HOT! Make sure you know what you can do to protect yourself from the sun’s harmful rays and stay strong as the summer, and your weekends roll on.

  1. DRINK WATER – Make sure you drink plenty of water this summer! Our bodies are made up of more than 50% water – which means we need water in our bodies to function. When we get hot and sweat, we’re basically draining the water out of our bodies. So, we’ve got to fill up our body’s water tank BEFORE we need to use the water, which means the day before you know you’ll be outside playing softball you need to be drinking water. Did you know that if you sweat enough to dehydrate just 1% that it’s enough for you to lose Mental performance and physical coordination? Not good if you’re trying to play softball, so drink plenty of water before, during and after your softball games.
  2. WEAR SUNSCREEN – Being in the sun seems cool when you’re trying to get a tan, just make sure you protect yourself from the sun’s harmful rays by wearing sunscreen. Try to have at least 30 spf so that it really protects you from the harmful rays of the sun and apply it a couple times a day! We’ve got some great Softball Excellence lip balm that has 30spf – which means it will help protect your lips against sunburn.
  3. EAT – Your body needs fuel to keep playing softball so make sure you eat healthy food this summer instead of fried, fast food. Eating heavy fast food not only wears you down in the heat, but it’s also so heavy your body can’t really use it for energy. Instead, try to eat healthier things during your weekends that have lots of protein that serve as fuel for your body!

By taking care of yourself during the hot summer months you’ll be much healthier and play better softball!
